Location: Kounopetra is a small area located a few kilometers southwest of Lixouri. It’s most famous for its geological phenomenon.
The Rock of Kounopetra: The name "Kounopetra" literally means "moving rock." This phenomenon involves a large rock that, before an earthquake in 1953, was observed to move rhythmically in the sea without any apparent cause.
The earthquake stopped this movement, but the rock remains a notable feature.
Beaches: The area around Kounopetra also offers beautiful beaches, such as Vatsa Bay and Vrachinari Beach, known for their serene settings and clear waters.
